About Me
I have been a postpartum and birth doula since 1989. My extensive doula training and experience is focused on caring for mothers with newborns during the immediate postpartum period.
I provide support with mother care, infant care education, breastfeeding, light housekeeping, meal prep and sibling care.
I 'mother the mother' so she can rest & take care of herself, to then recover well and bond with her newborn. As a doula I aim to provide evidence based information that is from current research with regards to newborn care and parenting. My philosophy, that is the foundation for my care, is rooted in the science of attachment. Newborns are driven by the need to be close and to preserve that closeness. This is their primary need aside from the need to be fed. So my doula care supports responding to that newborn's need in order to foster a strong secure attachment.
I encourage parents to nurture this attachment. It's instinctual parenting, not a particular style of parenting. I help parents discover what works best for them. -
