About the Family
Matt C
Family of 4 (+dog) looking for afternoon help in Oakville.
My wife and I are looking for help with our 5 year old son (Henry) and 2 year old daughter (Sophie).
This would be more of a "mother's helper" than a nanny as one or both parents will be present (with rare exceptions). We need someone who can keep the kitchen and common areas tidy, and prepare dinner for the children and occasionally for the family. You would also supervise the children as needed, keep them busy (e.g. park visits), and help out with their evening routine. We're of course open to more - e. g. grocery shopping, dog walking, and other errands - but this isn't critical.
We are looking for someone available in the afternoon/evening. We are somewhat flexible, but would prefer 3PM - 7PM on weekdays, and perhaps a few hours on the occasional weekend.
CPR, first aid, and background check are required. Some previous education/training in a relevant field (e. g. ECE) would be a plus. A valid driver's license is preferred.

Important Information
The main role of a nanny is to provide a safe, caring, nurturing and stimulating environment in which the children thrive and develop. General responsibilities include undertaking tasks related to the children’s care which evolve as kids grow. Attentive, high quality childcare includes planning the children’s daily schedule, play and development activities appropriate to the child's age. In addition typically nannies are responsible for meal preparation for the kids, and keeping the children’s areas neat and tidy.
Being a nanny means becoming a member of a household. Communicating with the family and clarifying their expectations is one of the most important aspects. No family is the same, and following their lead is key in succeeding through the interview and hiring process.
A few important things to know:
