Hello,
My name is Yara. My family and I are from Brazil and we are permanent residents here in Canada. We lived for a few years in the United States and for the past 20 years I have been an English teacher. I have 2 daughters, 13 and 8, who speak English and Portuguese fluently and are now learning French. Among the things I love doing with children are reading, story-telling, arts and crafts, etc.
I have a lot of experience with children since I worked for 12 years at an International/American school in Brazil, where I taught preschool, elementary and secondary students. In the last 5 years I primarily worked with first graders. I have a B. A. in Teaching English and Portuguese and another in Pedagogy (preschool and elementary education).
I have always been passionate about natural childbirth and breastfeeding. In Brazil I was part of a group called "Birth With Respect" that met every week to help, teach and encourage mothers throughout pregnancy. As part of this group, I regularly spoke about my experiences giving birth, breastfeeding and raising children.
