About Me
Dear family, My name is Vicky and I was born in Aklan, Philippines on July 8th 1967. My mother was a housewife and my father worked in a hotel as a bell hop. My parents have four children: Gerry (48 years old), Carol (46 years old), me (45 years old), and the youngest in the family, my sister Camila (35 years old). My home town is small and quiet but it is the best and a favorite for me. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering degree in my home province but never really got to use much of my education as I have spent much of my time after university helping my brother Gerry run his catering and restaurant business in Manila. My family (husband Dennis and daughter Christine) and I migrated to Canada about six years ago. After arriving in 2007 and a couple of jobs after, I decided to utilize my enthusiasm and interest for caring for the elderly and people with disabilities by taking the health care aide certification course and embark on a new career for myself. I trained on the job with Extendicare Canada-Cedars Villa facility and right after graduating I started to apply my education and experience at Extendicare-Hillcrest location on a full time basis. Since then I have accumulated a wealth of experience providing care to the elderly and people with disabilities in a long term home care setting. Working in a fast paced long term home care environment oftentimes entails caring for multiple residents/clients on a limited time period. At any given day during the work week I provide care for seven (7) residents, sometimes eight (8) residents when a fellow Health Care Aide (HCA) calls in sick. In order to accomplish this I have developed excellent organizational and time management skills over time needed to assist residents prepare for their daily activities. As well I am friendly, patient, helpful, a good listener and an able communicator to residents. I am happy to say that to this day I have yet to receive a complaint from a resident/client of unsatisfactory work or heard that they have not been cared for properly. I pride myself with the work I do and offer a high level of service to prospective clients should I be chosen to be employed as your family member's caregiver. Sincerely yours, Vicky
