Hello, my name is Taryn. I am 25 years old, married, and the step mother to a wonderful, lively 5 year old boy. Until this summer my full time job was being a mommy to my stepson. He has recently relocated to spend some time with his mother, and I am looking to get back into the childcare field. I love children, and have a mothers instinct, experience, and heart. Raising my stepson has been the greatest privilege of my life, and I would be so happy to find a place where I can again share my love and joy for children.
I have experience caring for children who are not my own as well. I ran a small daycare out of my home for the past 3 years. I offered full day care, before/after school care, overnight care, summer/holiday care, with all snacks and meals. I have experience with children from newborn to 12 years. I also have experience dealing with children who have mental/behavioral problems. My son was diagnosed with ADHD as well as ODD (Op-positional Defiant Disorder) and I have worked with doctors and counselors, as well as hands on, to learn the best ways to deal with children with these problems. I also have my Food Safe certificate and experience making healthy, child friendly foods.
I believe in giving children a lot of attention, as they are only young once and these times set the stage for the rest of their life. Children should have beautiful memories of being a kid. I am outdoor and creative play oriented. I believe children thrive on structure and routine, as well as patience and laughter. I encourage and find ways to make learning fun and offer homework help as well as educational play. I like to use television as a rainy day treat, and I have no problem keeping children entertained without it. I do a lot of arts and crafts, nature walks, park and swimming pool play, basically anything that involves being active and imagination.
As for myself, I am interested in the arts (I do a bit of painting myself), books and a good cup of tea, music, history, learning to play the guitar, gardening, and exploring nature. I am quite outgoing, I love to laugh and I try to find the humor in everything. I am beginning to teach myself basic french, a skill that I hope to be able to use to also help teach children to learn simple french words. I am always learning, always growing, and always looking for a new experience in this life.
