  • About Me

Hello Families, My name is Shelagh. I am 39 and have been working in childcare for 20 years. Most of my experience is as a nanny although I have worked/volunteered in a few daycare centres. All of my nanny jobs have been in Toronto except for one year I spent working in New York while attending school at night. I am mother to 19-month-old Olivia, born December 2013. After 9 months maternity leave, I returned to work, taking Olivia with me. The job was full-time but temporary as the parents were on a waiting list for a daycare. They were accepted at the end of January so I am once again looking for a full-time nanny position that allows me to bring Olivia. She is accustomed to being brought along on various nanny/babysitting gigs and enjoys meeting new people. I have my child/infant CPR and first aid. I am also an excellent swimmer so I'm very comfortable with children around water and enjoy many other activities such bike riding, hiking or just spending an afternoon at the park. In the winter I enjoy taking children ice skating and tobogganing. I like to keep busy with my kids by taking part in various programs such as story time at the local library, drop-in centres and playdates. I also recognize the importance of downtime at home engaged in quiet activities such as reading, doing crafts and playing games. I really enjoy taking children on all-day outings such as the ROM, the Science Centre, Centreville on Centre Island, the Zoo, Blackcreek Pioneer Village as well as events going on within the city such as The Royal Winter Fair and Buskerfest. I have always enjoyed a close relationship with the families I work for and I love their children as though they were my own. I am still in touch with many of my former nanny families. Since becoming a mother myself, I have more insight into how parents feel towards their children, their desire to protect them and see them thrive, which I feel adds to my performance as a caregiver. I have a resume which I would be happy to forward to anyone interested. I also have a police reference check. I look forward to hearing from some prospective families.
