About Me
Hi.
My name is Melissa and I am an aspiring teacher. I am currently in my last semester at Douglas College and this Fall I will be finishing my Bachelors of Psychology Degree. I have recently received my acceptance letter from SFU and have been granted admission into their PDP program. In a years time, I will officially be a certified teacher :)
I come from a family of 3 children and I am the second oldest. I have grown up surrounded by a lot of family as I have 15+ cousins on each side of the family (my mom and dads). I have a lot of experience with children as I have a younger sister whom I have always taken care of when we were younger. I was always responsible for getting her ready for school in the AM's, packing her lunch, getting her to school and picking her up. After I obtained my babysitting certificate in gr 7, I started babysitting for neighbors when necessary.
There aren't very many things that I dislike. I like to keep an open mind and try new things. Growing up I played a lot of sports. Specifically softball and soccer. In the off season I would swim and figure skate. the schedules got too hectic and I withdrew from Figure Skating. In my spare time, I volunteer at Canuck place. And my role there as a volunteer is similar to a babysitter. I am responsible for playing with the children there on respite and also entertaining their siblings.
If hired as a caregiver for your children I think I would be an excellent one. I am an easy going, friendly and organized person. I can relate well with children. I think with the education I have had thus far from post secondary would be of great use when dealing with situations that occur.
