My name is Marissa, I am twenty years old and I live in Whitby with my Aunt, Uncle and Cousin. I have a kitten named Nala, who I adore. I spend my spare time writing music, poems and anything that comes to me. I also enjoy drawing, photography, running, skating, skiing, hiking and really anything that involves the outdoors. I grew up in a small town of 2000 people so I spent most of childhood outdoors. My family that once consisted of 5 people, now consists of 12. I have a biological mother and father, brother and sister. I have a stepfather, a stepmother, 4 step sisters and a step brother. I also have a one and half year old nephew, who is my world. I have moved a total of 10 times in my life. I find that with all of the changes in my life, it has led me to exactly where I am supposed to be. I have always had a passion for children, ever since I can remember. When I was little, I always wanted to be a teacher but I thought that dream would eventually fade. It wasn’t till just last year that I decided to follow that dream. There are many reasons why I have decided to follow the path that I am taking. In the past, I have worked in different classrooms. I have babysat many children from new born-12 years of age. I have worked with children who have many different learning disabilities, and children with behaviour problems. I worked in a grade one classroom for my co-op in high school and I taught a child how to read. I love that feeling you get when a child can finally understand something or they learn something new, it’s amazing. Nothing can beat that. I am seeking Summer employment right now, hopefully working with children. I wish to expand my resume and I also love working with kids.
