Hello, my name is Mackenzie I am 20 years young.
I absolutely adore working with children of all ages.
I have been working with children since I was in grade five (2004/2005). I spent my lunch hours and my recess' inside working with the children with special needs. I later went onto high school and joined a club called "best buddies" where students would volunteer their lunch hours and after school hours and hangout with the students who have special needs.
In my grade 12 year I was informed about a program called OYAP (Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program) and they were offering a Child Development Practitioner course. I was referred for an interview by several of my teachers and a guidance counsellor and obtained the last spot in the course.
I absolutely loved the program, working four out of five "school days" and going to school once a week. I did my placement at a daycare centre located in Pickering, Ontario. I was working with children aged 4-6.
I did a lot of one on one work with several children, and many group learning activities a day.
I have been babysitting for family and friends since I was 14 years old.
My family is fairly large; three older biological siblings, and four younger step siblings. I am extremely family oriented. I live with just my mum currently as I am trying to save up to go back to school next fall.
