About Me
During my first months that i worked with adults suffering from Dementia & Alzheimer's disease, I noticed that every time the agency send me to see a new client, they are always confused & unease whenever they see a new caregiver, wearing my badge all through the shift helps but still it doesn't help much, they remember the reason why i am there for two minutes & they'll forget it in a minute. What i did was, i sit with them over a cup of tea, took a white clean paper, boldly wrote my name , the date & time when i was scheduled to work , made the agenda for the whole day together (all in black & white) then stick in front of the fridge. as a sort of reminder. It does magic, they exactly know, if it is tea time at 3pm, going out for a walk at 4 & so on & on.
My three years of experience working as a personal caregiver taught me a lot & gained knowledge about elderly's common diseases, & memory deterioration. Among my strengths includes clear communication, calming strategies, schedule management & i believe that the quality of patience that i posses is a huge asset
I am a Live-in Caregiver, First Aide & Food Safe Safe certified, with excellent references from previous employer & updated criminal record check.
I was a team member of an agency offering a non medical care/assistance to a number of seniors throughout the day. Assisted clients in daily personal grooming tasks; Closely worked & monitored clients with Alzheimer's disease & Dementia; Prepared nutritious meals/snacks; Carried out light housekeeping tasks; Medication reminders; Accompanied clients to social events;/ doctor's visit; Followed company's regulations & safety practices.
I personally assisted a 105 year old lady with Alzheimer's disease, entertained & keep her happy by constant conversation, taking her out for walks to the park/garden / visit friends & relatives; maintained over all cleanliness in her place; made sure that she is being fed with four square meals a day; assisted her to have a bath, go in/out the toilet & helped her dress up appropriately; Ensured that she's always safe by all means.
I also provided care & companionship to an 80 year old lady with Dementia round the clock. Shop, plan & prepare nutritious meals; assisted her with activities such as walks, working puzzles/ reading books; managed schedules in her behalf & accompanied her to doctor's visits or other appointments; performed housekeeping tasks; monitored medical conditions & kept medications on track; assisted her to maintain personal hygiene.
Yes, since i am not yet a certified care aide, I can only handle non-medical in home clients that needs companionship.
