  • About Me

Hi, my name is Kylie and I am a 20 year old currently living in Calgary. I grew up in Cochrane with my family but moved to Calgary about 3 years ago for school. I am currently studying at Mount Royal University in the pursuit of a degree in the Health Sciences with hopes of attending Medical school in the near future. As well as attending Mount Royal for academics, I am also a member of the Varsity Women's Volleyball team. Playing on a sports team has taught me many valuable lessons that I have been able to transfer to everyday situations. My involvement in sports has taught me patience, responsibility, problem solving, and time management. It has also made me a great team player and someone who enjoys to work with people of all ages. When I am not busy training with my team, I enjoy reading, going on hikes, volunteering throughout the city, and spending time with my friends and family. I have babysat for a multiple of families with children ranging from the ages of 6 months to 12 years old. Growing up with a younger sister and brother taught me responsibility at a young age. Both my parents worked full time jobs so I was in charge of making after school snacks and looking after my younger siblings until my parents were home from work. I also learned to cook at a young age and now love to cook for people. Along with babysitting, I have also taken care of multiple pets for families gone on vacation. Pet sitting was always fun for me because of my extreme love for all animals.
As mentioned earlier, I am very involved with volunteering through out the city of Calgary. One of the organizations I have been lucky enough to work with include Catholic Family Services Mentoring program. The program matches you up with a child ranging from the ages of 5-17 who is either struggling at school with friends or academics, or is maybe having issues at home. Once a week, we meet up with our paired mentee for 1 hour and spend time with them. They can choose to talk with us about their week or just do crafts. I have also had the opportunity to volunteer for the Bowling With Friends program. The program involves spending an evening bowling with a group of men and women who suffer from either a mental or physical disability. I am also looking into volunteering within a hospital during this upcoming summer to further my personal experience within the healthcare system.
