I have always enjoyed working with children from the time I was very young. When I was 10 years old I would always plan fun activities for my younger cousins every time we got together. They looked up to me and always looked forward to seeing what fun and exciting things I had planned next. It made me feel great about myself and that passion continued as I grew. I volunteered in day cares and schools. I went on to college and got my ECE diploma.
I am very nurturing, warm, gentle, loving and affectionate. I am very patient. I have a small quiet personality which is often handy when dealing with children as sometimes a quiet soothing voice is what they need. On the other hand I can be very fun and energetic and animated. Children love when I read stories and sing songs with them as I make voices and funny facial expressions and actions. I am amazed at how long they can hold their attention when I am doing activities of this nature with them. They are actively engaged.
I love seeing children learn and grow.
I get along well with all families, keeping them informed of their child's day to day activities and accomplishments. I believe in providing a safe, comfortable and inviting environment for the child. A space where the child can learn, play and grow. An environment that builds the child's self-esteem. Teaching the child problem solving and self-helps skills so that the child can feel independent. A warm and loving environment. I practice positive guidance in which the child is given options and encouraged to make the best choice possible. Guidance is done with verbal cues that promote positive self-esteem.
