About Me
I am a retired, energetic fun-loving grandmother who is available to walk your children home from school or bus, give them a snack, take them outside to play, and help get them started on their homework, start dinner preparations and stay with them until you return from work. I am also comfortable with pets and taking one for a walk would be a bonus.
I am extremely responsible, absolutely dependable, healthy and physically fit and enjoy accompanying children to play outside. I believe that physical activity is an important part of a child’s day.
I have taken a first aid course and have a police record check
I presently work for a busy family of 3 children aged 11, 9 and 6. I pick them up from school, prepare and serve the children their dinner, prepare their lunches for the next day, laundry, tidy up and keep the kitchen clean. I will grocery shop as needed and occasionally babysit in the evening.
I worked for the Ottawa Safety Council as a Walking School bus for three years. This involved picking children up at various stops along a designated route. With my partner we had up to 18 children. I have volunteered at CHEO and had a weekly assignment in the Day Surgery waiting room. I would help entertain the children to keep them occupied until it was their turn, accompany the child and parent to the operating room and stay with the parent until the child was asleep. Volunteer for CHEO Foundation events such as Teddy Bear Picnic, CN Cycle, CHEO Telethon. I was inducted into the “Order of the Good Bear” at CHEO in 2017. I enjoy children and have been working with them for the past five years. They make me laugh and I love making them laugh.
I am very flexible and adaptable.
I will be available in September 2018 My present family is on a diplomatic posting to Ottawa and are returning home in the summer of 2018. If you are in need of dependable after school children care I would be pleased to meet with you to discuss your requirements.
I received the following letter of Kevin Keohane of the CHEO foundation“To Whom it May Concern,
I have known Joyce Clyne for approximately 10 years and I am extremely happy to serve as a reference for her in regard to this employment opportunity. Joyce has been a volunteer for the CHEO Foundation and for CHEO for many years and she is always a great ambassador for our cause and always does a great job regardless of the task. Joyce is exactly how she appears to be: warm, caring, intelligent and fun to be around. She is also hard working with great “people-skills” and strong attention to detail. Joyce does not need to work but she enjoys working and this makes her an ideal employee in the same way that she is an exceptional volunteer. I highly recommend her for this or any position.
Sincerely,
Kevin Keohane

Joyce and I worked together for 2 years as Walking School Bus leaders. She was wonderful to work with - always smiling and encouraging with the kids. She took the time to get to know them and always greeted them with a smile. As a work partner, she was always prompt and punctual. The safety of the children was her first priority and she took it very seriously. It was definitely a pleasure to work with her.
