About Me
Dear Family,
I hope you are doing fine :) I am Donna May M. Boa. I am 26 years old. I was born in Lemery Batangas on 28th of August,1991. I came from a big happy family of eight.
I started living away from my family when I was 15yrs old to study for four years. I took up Bachelors of Science in Nursing. Two months after I graduated,I took the board exam for nurses. After more than a month, the result came out and I became a registered nurse. I apply in Singapore and I was hired in a nursing home for people with intellectual disability. The job was very tough. We bathe them, feed them and do activities of daily living for them We have hundred of residents and half of them are wheelchair bound. We have to transfer them from bed to wheelchair and vice versa six times a day. Majority of them are totally dependent. We also provide nursing care. We prepare and give medications to them, clean their wounds and making sure that their maintenance creams and medicine are being given and applied. We bring them to the clinic and hospital if they have an appointment to see doctor. We also do some of the household chores. We clean toilet, mop the floors, clean the chairs and activity areas and wash used utensils. We provide nursing care and household chores at the same time. This is a very tough job.But above all I enjoyed working with them. They are challenging yet very sweet.
After my contract in Singapore I went back home and apply as au pair in Denmark. While waiting I took care of my 7yrs old youngest sister and my 2yrs old nephew for 7months.
I worked in Denmark as an au pair/nanny for two lovely girls aged 1and 4yrs old. I prepare their breakfast everyday and prepare their lunch box to bring in the kindergarten. I help in preparing them for kindergarten. While waiting for them I will do household chores like tidying up,ironing, vacuum cleaning, washing the floors, doing the laundry, loading and unloading dish washing machine, cleaning all edges of the house, cleaning windows, gardening and feeding the animals. The kids will come back at 4pm. I will look after them and play with them.
While working in Denmark, I started looking for a job online in Canada. Luckily, I got hired by an 85 year old man as caregiver for his 81 year old wife. In January 2016, after staying in Denmark for 15 months I flew coming here in Canada and live with the couple. Unfortunately, the woman I am looking after passed away after 18 months with her. She was an amazing woman. She was very sweet and kind. She suffered from Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, a medical condition that affects movement of all kind. Every morning I helped her to get ready for the day and feed her breakfast, lunch and dinner. I prepare the food for the couple and some household chores. I also help her husband with yardwork and gardening during summer which I really enjoy. For 18 months I stay with them everyday, I go wherever they go and never left the house except for 3 weeks holiday back in my home country. I really love this couple because they are amazing and they treated me like a family. I would be happy to have a new employer who would also treat me as part of their family.
When it comes to leisure,I enjoy simple things in life. I love outdoor activities. going for a walk, being with my friends and go to places I have not been to.
I am second in the family, I have been taking care of my younger siblings. I have worked in a nursing home with people with intellectual disability.I want to experience living in a country with different culture.I would be happy to have an opportunity to speak with you. To answer your questions about my experience in elderly care. To learn more about your family and to hear what are your expectations to caregiver you want to work with. My current employer would also be happy to talk with you if you have questions. At present, I am living in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta and I am looking for an employer who can sponsor me as I am not a permanent resident yet.Thank you very much for your interest in my application. I am looking forward to hear from you :)
Best regards,
Donna Boa -
