About Me
If there is one truth about me it's that I have always had a love for things that grow. It began with a head of lettuce in my parents garden when I was a small child, and has since encompassed everything from the contents of my own garden, to the neighborhood children I started babysitting at age 10, to interpersonal relationships I develop as an adult within my community. I believe everything is a learning opportunity no matter how mundane, silly or serious. Being a caretaker for any child is not an easy job, but it has been my experience that so long as you nurture their minds and give them the space to think creatively and respectfully, you are preparing that child for functional interactions with the rest of the world. It's truly a matter of encouraging engagement; allowing a child to understand or witness the interconnectedness that shapes our human experience.
I have recently re-enrolled in post-secondary education at OCAD University, where I am studying Material Art and Design. As an art student I am required on a daily basis to assess the world around me with fresh eyes, and use those assessments to provide creative solutions to the vast array of issues we face on the day to day. As a craftsperson, I know the value of patience and repetition. I believe these skills have informed my ability to do my job well, and allow to me demonstrate those values by example. I have nannied abroad, babysat casually, and until the fall was working with a delightful family of 5 in the Junction. In my spare time, I enjoy the succulents on my window sill, my cat; Jean Luc Picard, cooking, reading, and turning every opportunity into one for adventure. I can't wait to see where I will end up.- Education: Undergraduate degree
