I have recently move to Vancouver from Calgary. I have a background in Education and Fine Art. For the last few years I have worked as a substitute teacher and I have taught English overseas. Being an Art Teacher there are not a lot of positions, since most school only hire one. So, this is why I want to be a nanny, so I can have a stable full time job working with children where I can utilize my education. I have also been babysitting since I was a teenager. Before leave Calgary I was babysitting for two families, one that has a two year old and the other has a three and four year old. When I babysat I would take the kids to the park, play in the backyard - mini golf, basketball, soccer, blowing bubbles, playing tag or simon says. Indoors we play with toys, draw, play with play dough, I would read to them, and do baking. I have experience taking care of kids when they were sick, bathing kids, changing diapers, feed babies, making healthy snacks and meals for kids. When it comes to discipline I follow the method used by parents. This works well, since its consistent with the children expectations. Some forms of discipline that I have used are taking away a toy or privilege, or having a timeout, never anything physical or that would harm the child. I'm also up for taking the kids on trips to parks or the aquarium or anything else you have in mind. I have a drivers licence, but do not own a vehicle at the moment.
