About Me
Hi there!
My name is Jessica, and I adore interacting with young children. I've had the amazing experience of volunteering and working with kids aged 4-12 for the past four years! I’m ideally looking for part-time babysitting throughout the week, though I am open to both full time and occasional sitting as well. I don’t mind a family that has pets; I love all creatures and am happy to provide them with any needed care as well.
A little bit about me:
I'm currently pursuing my undergraduate's degree at the University of Toronto; I'm entering my second year this fall. I'm double majoring in Environmental Ethics and Society, Ethics, and Law. I'm also doing a minor in Buddhism, Psychology, and Mental Health. It's a mouthful, but I'm loving my experience so far!
I've always excelled in school. I finished my senior year of high school with a 95 average, and I just completed my first year of university with a 3.9 GPA. The subjects I enjoy the most are English, art, history, and philosophy; however, I am more than capable of tutoring children in basic science, math, and geography.
I have many hobbies which translate wonderfully into child-care jobs. First and foremost, I adore reading books of all reading levels- both to myself and others. As a camp counselor, I often read children's stories to my campers and encouraged them to read along with me, or tackle some pages on their own! I am also an avid lover of all arts and crafts; I was the leader of the arts & crafts activity at my Camp, and have also taken art courses throughout my time in high school. Lastly, one of my greatest passions is cooking. I have worked in two culinary jobs before (at a catering company and as a Starbucks barista!), so I am well-versed in food safety. I also have an extensive knowledge of healthy plant-based foods, in case your child is vegan or vegetarian.Services And Training:
I am currently CPR and First Aid Certified.
I am happy to prepare meals and snacks for your child, help with homework, pick them up from school/daycare, take them to extracurriculars within walking distance, and spend time playing with them at a park, public kids pool, or with their favorite toys!
I also don’t mind doing light house keeping, running errands, or grocery shopping if needed.I feel most comfortable caring for children from 1-13 years of age, but am willing to learn the ins and outs of caring for a newborn, provided that I match with a family who is willing to guide me through their routine.
Child-Care Experience:
◦ Babysitter for two families with elementary aged children (2014-2017)
◦ Camp Counsellor at Ontario Pioneer Camp (Summer 2016)
◦ Volunteer at Montrose Public School for Extracurricular Classes: Dance, Sports, & Beginners Portuguese (2013-2015)* References available upon request!
