About Me
You invest so much into your child's development. You have read all the books and understand and apply the strategies in the hopes of raising a healthy, resilient, secure, inquisitive, and emotionally intelligent child. But then you have to find child care knowing that the time this person spends with your child will have a significant impact on his or her development. It can be a scary prospect.
If this sounds like you, please read on, I feel I may be a good match for you and your family.
I am an experienced nanny available for day time care of children in your home on Mondays and Thursdays, with full time (Monday-Friday) availability beginning in the middle of May. I have been caring for children for years, and I have experience working with all ages, from infants to 12 years of age.
ABOUT ME:
I graduated with first class honours in Health Sciences where my research focused on the social-emotional development of children, and how it relates with ADHD, emotional intelligence, and physical activity. I am a passionate learner and I love working with children for their endless curiosity and drive to understand the world around them.
CHILD MINDING STYLE:
My child minding style focuses on promoting the social-emotional development of children by remaining present, calm, and empathetic. I am familiar with theories of attachment and believe children need to feel understood, and genuinely cared for by a caregiver that is compassionate and patient while remaining in control and consistent with household rules.
I also believe in tech/tv-free play for children, and I choose to model a tech-free lifestyle while they are in my care.
I like to encourage children of all ages to come up with ideas and solutions for themselves by asking them questions and being patient as they think and work things through.
I also like to encourage outdoor play and physical activity.
FOOD AND COOKING:
I eat a (mostly) plant-based diet, and refrain from eating processed foods. I enjoy cooking healthy meals and teaching children about healthy eating habits. I have found that children as young as two years old can understand and apply concepts of healthy eating. For instance, how to choose items for a balanced snack that will prevent energy crashes by discussing “Short fuel”, versus “Long fuel.”
PHYSICAL ACTIVITY:
I am an active runner, and train 6-7 days a week.
I practice yoga and mindfulness daily; and,
In the summer months, I practice hula hoop dancing and make my own hoops. I am able to make a hoop specially fitted for your little one.
I can provide excellent references upon your request. I am happy to negotiate with you regarding wage and options such as Nanny Sharing.
