Hello.
My name is Valerie. I am 22 years old and would love to help you with your family’s needs. I grew up with an older brother with special needs, so I am not afraid of a challenge. In the last two years I was a camp counsellor to 30 campers at camp that promotes positive self-esteem and relationships through communication and interpersonal skills. The camp promoted skill development through teaching cooking skills; therefore I am very capable of teaching new skills - the campers loved the grilled cheese boats in homemade tomato soup.
I am currently volunteering at the London Pubic Library as a mentor to a student struggling with his literacy skills. Providing one-on-one support and promoting a positive relationship with academics allowed his skills and confidence to flourish.
In April I will finish my bachelor’s degree in Psychology, with courses of study in educational psychology, childhood psychology and neuroeducational psychology. I am certified in First Aid and CPR, fire-extinguisher training, and WHIMIS.
I am very flexible and adaptable to changing needs combined with the ability to easily learn new things.
