I am a Calgary high school graduate. I moved from Italy to Canada almost three years ago and I am now looking for a job to continue my stay in this country. I am in need of an employer willing to apply for an LMIA so that I may be legally eligible to work. I am mainly looking for a job in childcare, although I am willing to work in other fields as well. I am a reliable, hardworking and dedicated individual. I am also a fast and enthusiastic learner. I adapt well to new situations and work well both on my own and with others. I fluently speak English, Italian, and Romanian and understand some French and Spanish. On top of my work-experience in Italy, I have been involved in many different volunteering programs in high school and am currently volunteering as a childcare helper for a former teacher.

Experience

I worked part-time/on call as a babysitter in Italy for 2 years. I mostly worked for family friends and neighbors. I have worked with newborns and toddlers, but mostly pre-school and kindergarten aged children. My main duties included preparing and serving nutritious meals; ensuring the children developed good hygiene habits or, when working with newborns and toddlers, changing diapers, bathing them and caring for their personal hygiene myself; engaging the children in fun and stimulating activities and games to promote their mental and physical development while showing them love and respect at all times to ensure their emotional well being. The children's safety was always the most important part of my job therefore I was expected to think fast and aid them in any way I could in case of emergency while seeking professional help and informing their parents. I was required to perform all of these duties in the absence of the children's parents while I was also expected to assist the parents when they were present.

I am currently volunteering as a childcare helper for a former teacher of mine. I have been helping to care for a newborn and a three-year old. There are times where I help the mother by watching both children for her while she is both at home or away from the house.
I have learned to assist getting the children ready for outings, preparing snacks and meals, looking after the children’s hygiene (diaper changes, potty training, bathing, etc.). In addition, I have gone both alone and with the mom and children to a variety of locations such as the Telus Spark Science Centre, the Calgary Zoo, swimming, Bowness Park, the downtown Calgary Public Library, and Killarney Park and Pool. Whenever in the home, I spend time planning and participating in educational games and activities with the eldest child.
In addition, I have learned to assist the mom with daily household duties. I have learned to do laundry, tidy the house (sweeping, dusting, etc.), and dishes.
I have truly come to appreciate the intricacies of being able to manage the needs of two young children while attending to preparing snacks, meals, and the overall well-being of the children. I believe that I have developed the skills to safely and effectively multi-task when it comes to childcare.
I am certified through Life Savers (Calgary company) for Standard Child Care First Aid CPR/AED Level B (exp 2020).
