About Me
My name is Tara, and i am in the process of graduating from the Early Childhood Education Program at Humber College with honours. I have cared for children from newborns right through to high school age, and work 1:1 with special needs children yearly. I am, and have been a camp councilor for children in care and children with special needs. I especially connect with children with autism and have taken four classes in American Sign Language to do so. I have cared for several families in the area for over 8 years, and continue to do so on an on call basis. I am at the stage in my life where i would like to attain a full time working position in a warm, caring ,and challenging environment. I have personally worked and been a supervisor for four years working with the animals at the OSPCA, and have fostered and cared for many injured and sick animals. I have adopted three dogs of my own and a house rabbit. They are very dear to me as are the many children i work with daily. I was originally born and raised in England and have been in Canada since 2000. I am a dual citizen, and am very proud to be living in this country. I love to be outdoors in any weather, and love to provide the children i am with creative and fun sensory, dramatic, and physical games and experiences to enhance their development in all developmental domains. I would love to work 30-50 hours a week during an average week, but would welcome more hours if needed. A structured schedule would be preferred,so that i can get the children on a schedule where they would feel comfort and at ease, but i also understand this isn't always possible. I hope this gives you a little insight into who i am, i look forward to hearing from you.
