About Me
Hello!
My name is Maria, I am a 23 year old engineering student at Carleton university. I was born in Mexico City and I lived most of my life there. Growing up I took care of tons of pets, like cats, dogs, hamsters, a rabbit, ducks, turtles, fish, frogs, you name it! I even tried convincing my parents of getting a snake, sadly they said no.
Ever since I was a little kid I was passionate about animals. I wanted to help them, which is why I also volunteered at an animal shelter for ten years. I would clean the cages, feed the animals, walk the dogs, play with the cats and I also helped in the grooming facility.
When I was sixteen I also had the opportunity to volunteer at the SPCA Wild Animal Rehabilitation Centre located in Victoria, BC. I fed nestlings and fledgelings of several bird species, I took care of young squirrels and raccoons and I also did laundry. It was definitely one of the best experiences I've had.
Motivated by my desire to protect the environment and also help people, I moved to Canada to study an undergrad in Architectural Conservation and Sustainability Engineering four years ago. I will begin my final year in September. However, in the meantime I would love to provide my services as an animal care giver to anyone that needs them.
