I come from a large family in the UK and moved to Canada in 1980. I am a calm,patient qualified nanny,and have over 30 years experience with children from premature infants to young teens. I have also cared for children with special needs,both in a private setting and in care homes. Although now in my fifties,I have lots of energy,and love to spend my 'child-filled' days with trips to the park/beach/pool and generally ensure the children have days full of learning,laughter and fun.Trips to the library,baking afternoons,'dress-up' days,and playdates. I believe a child benefits from being raised in a home setting,rather than an impersonal nursery,so that they are free to explore things that interest them and learn at their own pace. I have many wonderful references from the fabulous families that have been part of my life over the years.I am still in contact with most of them. In 2013/14 I volunteered in Northern Thailand,at a care home for children with disabilities.Teaching them English and Art,and helping them acquire skills to aid their independence. Since September 2014 I have working as a nanny in Powell River, looking after 3 children - 9 years,5 years,and 18 months - but this was short term contract so I am once again searching for a family that will appreciate all that I can contribute to their life.
