My name is Joshua Wiebe, and I'm 18 years old. I attended Pacific Academy in Surrey, BC, up until Grade 6, when my family and I moved to Africa. I have been living in various countries around Africa for the past 4 and a half years. During this time I have had various responsibilities including looking after children, helping to feed them, etc., and have looked after multiple children of all ages and backgrounds. I've worked in orphanages, schools, daycares, orphan programs, etc. and I often entertain the children at these various programs with music (I play guitar and sing.) I'm very good with children and animals, and would love to be able to do this for a job. I'd say my biggest hobby is karate; I am a brown belt in shotokan karate, with around 3 years of training. However, I also love doing crafts, playing with children, and going on walks. Although I realized it’s deemed “weird” to hire a male nanny or babysitter, I hope this does not impact your decision to consider me for a job. I want to be a nanny simply because I’ve been around kids my entire life, and I’ve always had a passion for working with them. I believe that today’s society has produced a stigma against hiring males as caregivers due to the stories one sees on the news. However, I’ve never had an issue with any children, and I have a lot of experience with children from all over the world of varying ages. I know that some people might have a hard time looking past gender, but if you can look past this I think you’ll see that I can be a great caregiver and role model for your child.
