I was born in Vancouver and grew up in Steveston, Richmond. I still reside in Richmond although I have lived in Vancouver for extended periods of time as well, so I am very familiar with both cities, and the Lower Mainland in general. I am the youngest of six children so I have grown accustom to being surrounded by lots of personality types and have been in -what some would call- hectic situations. My experience of being the youngest of a large family has shaped me to be a very patient, caring and well-rounded person. I attended McMath Secondary School and after graduating I attended Langara College where I completed 2 years of General Studies. After taking some time off school for travelling around Europe, I decided that I would return to Langara for Nursing prerequisites. In the next year I will be finished those courses and plan on applying to BCIT in order to complete the Nursing Program.
In 2011, my family welcomed my beautiful niece into the world. Up until recently I lived in the same household as her and her mother (my sister). So, I played a major role in her day to day life and essentially had, and still have, a hand in raising her. Caring for a child from infancy to toddlerhood requires a lot of work and brings about a vast array of duties. These duties include changing diapers, preparing bottles, cooking, general cleaning, cleaning dishes, laundry, playing games, providing activities (story time, painting, arts and crafts etc.), teaching her English (as well as the little bit of Spanish that I know) and the list goes on. Though at times taking care of my niece could be tiring I absolutely loved every second of it. The experience has taught me so many invaluable lessons and has made me more patient, loving and all round a better person. Having helped in the raising of my niece has been nothing short of amazing.
Some of my interests include biking, hiking, playing sports and staying active in general. Two years ago I wanted to challenge myself physically, so I trained and participated in my first marathon. I have run one other one since as well as a couple half-marathons and one duathlon. My mom is a personal trainer and owns her own gym in Steveston, so I make an effort to work out as much as my schedule allows. I have played soccer since I was five and I also have a passion for basketball. Other than sports my interests include cooking, reading, playing guitar, listening to all types of music, going to movies, going to comedy clubs, gardening, and of course spending time with my family and friends.
